The Political Mission of Premier Romanow:
Divide and Conquer

By Mario deSantis, April 18, 1999

The state of confusion, mismanagement and trust disintegration of our politicians and bureaucrats has reached a new momentum with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) strike and their just defiance to the back-to-work legislation, a law conceptualized within the chronic bad faith mentality of our Premier Roy Romanow(1). Last Thursday, as I casually talked to Timothy Shire(2), I recounted how sickening this governmental administration is getting in pursuing a planned and hidden public policy of dividing people(3) and maintaining a state of permanent confusion where only the powerful and the privileged are the winners. I mentioned to Timothy, that only a few people are realizing how Premier Romanow is a subtle man of division, who uses the ancient Roman policy of "break and conquer" in order to maintain his political power.

We are now in 1999 and at a time when we appreciate our differences and come together by communicating all over the world through the Internet and doing business within a global village, this policy of "break and conquer" is regressive and should not be tolerated anymore and anywhere, especially in Saskatchewan. I went on to say how last Wednesday, while watching the news on TV, I became disturbed in listening to Greg Trew, union official with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). In announcing the reaching of a tentative agreement with the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations (SAHO), Greg Trew thanked Premier Romanow for his participation in this dispute. Here we are in the middle of the nurses strike, at a time when all unions and concerned citizens should sympathize for the retention of our rights to freely negotiate collective agreements, and we have a union spokesman thanking Premier Romanow.

We have now a union against another union and both of them are in healthcare!

This is the master mind of our leader Premier Romanow, who when asked if he should take some credit for brokering this deal replied "...you win some and you lose some..."(4) The visionary mentality of our Premier is showing its true color and becoming much clearer: a number game again(5) and again(6) within the governmental mission of "break and conquer".
