Our legal and financial globalization system needs changes to allow
as many countries to enjoy their democratic growth with the
consequential growth of their economies. An economic system which
allows people with money to make more money is not conducive to
peace as this system creates economic and social divisions.
Our economic system is already flawed yet we have President
George Bush who is legitimizing an economic system for the few and
privileged, and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi who is
decriminalizing his own false accounting and getting away with his
bribing of judges. So, as we have Bush's trickle down economy on
behalf of the few and privileged so we have Berlusconi's trickle
down corruption on behalf of crooks.
We
don't have to take such bullying behaviour by these elitist crooks
and it is time we denounce their wrongdoing. I took a trip to Italy
recently, and my wonderful trip was all at once shaken up when I
found out that two crooks stole a few Euro as I exchanged my dollars
for Euro. In the afternoon of this October 3, after visiting la
Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore with my wife Sharon, I needed some
local money and I decided to exchange $200 for Euro when I came
across a money exchange outlet with a poster advertising their NO
COMMISSION practices.
I
had previously exchanged money at Via della Conciliazione (Piazza
San Pietro) and I was not charged any commission and therefore I
didn't pay close attention to the transaction which was taking
place. As I received my Euro money in exchange for dollars I was
disappointed to find out that I didn't receive what I expected and I
asked the two crooks if there was any commission on this
transaction. They answered that there was a 6.9% commission and I
countered how there would be a commission if you advertise NO
COMMISSION.
I
left the exchange outlet in a bad mood and such bad mood was
beginning to spoil my day. I had a look at the receipt I got and I
found that the receipt had no legible business name. Also, the
receipt was nothing else but a piece of paper reflecting ad hoc
computations through a calculator with a business stamp. I really
got mad and I thought how many more tourists these two crooks were
going defraud and I was not going to have my day spoiled either.
Therefore, I went back to the money exchange outlet and I asked
the two crooks to have my few Euro back. The two crooks said that
the transaction was legal and if I wanted to complain I could call
the police. Instead of calling the police I took pictures of these
two crooks and pictures of their business premises; then along with
Sharon I proceeded to have a better time as we went to see
Michelangelo's Mose at San Pietro in Vincoli.
