"William James used to preach the 'will to believe.' For my
part, I should wish to preach the 'will to doubt.' ...What is wanted
is not the will to believe, but the wish to find out, which is the
exact opposite"--Bertrand Russell
The Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) is defending its
flawed No-Fault Insurance program and in the process SGI is going
against the law while at the same time is putting itself above the
law(1). This injustice has been the typical trademark of the
Romanow's patriotic socialist government(2).
No-Fault Insurance was implemented in Saskatchewan in 1995 by the
Romanow's Government, and this legislation has prevented the injured
victims to seek remedies for suffering and pain through the Court.
Further, in order to scientifically support the benefit of No-Fault
Insurance, SGI paid over one million dollars for a fraudulent
research directed by Dr. David Cassidy at the University of
Saskatchewan. This fraudulent research has undermined the integrity
of the Saskatchewan Government, the integrity of SGI, and the
integrity of the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Barry McLennan,
assistant dean of research at the University of Saskatchewan, has
strongly supported the work of Dr. Cassidy and has stated that the
university takes great pride in the caliber and integrity of both
its research staff and research work. It is fully supportive of
Cassidy's work and accomplishments(3).
Dr. Emma Bartfay(4) and Dr. Wayne Lepnurm(5) have both worked
with Dr. Cassidy and have both stated that Dr. Cassidy's research
was fundamentally flawed. Therefore, it is extremely important to
remind Dr. McLennan and his friends of the way models or researches
should be conducted. And in this regard I find very appropriate to
quote Dr. John Sterman:
"Modelers (or researchers) often fail to document their
work, preventing others from replicating and extending it.
Modelers and clients often suffer from confirmation bias,
selectively presenting data favorable to their preconceptions,
and then stickin' to their stories despite the evidence. Model
testing should instead be designed to uncover errors so you and
your clients can understand the model's limitations, improve it,
and ultimately use the best available model (research) to assist
in important decisions(6)."
As a consequence, while Dr. McLennan wants more research to
challenge Dr. Cassidy's research, I invite him to redirect his
attention to the integrity of any further research and work for the
re-establishment of the reputation of the University of
Saskatchewan(7).
